It’s Friday, and not even the normal kind of Friday, but the even-more-awesome 3-day-weekend-Friday!! Lots of time to check out one of my favorite places in Las Vegas – The Container Park!

Las Vegas is obviously known for the famous Las Vegas Strip, and Fremont Street, and while I love those places, I am really loving this little downtown spot. Located at the south east corner of 7th and Fremont St., there is surprisingly ample on-street parking, along several hotel parking garages nearby.
Part of the Downtown Project, The Container Park has brought so much to an area of town that I would not have ventured to alone when I moved to Las Vegas in 2011. Zappo’s CEO Tony Hsieh set out to revitalize this community, and he has definitely succeeded. Not only are there tons of interesting little shops and restaurants, but it is as though the space was created for Instagram!
Each container is a 250 square foot cube, creating perfect spaces for small entrepreneurs to showcase their art, retail products, even wine on-tap! In the middle of everything is a 3 story tree house, complete with slides. I won’t lie, I’ve gone down them, and they are awesome!! There is also a stage area with “grass” seating, that offers a great venue for performers, and even a series of weekly movies over the summer.
Weekends provide a variety of family-friendly activities, including drum circles and circus performer lessons. From 9pm-11pm the area is 21 and up, so you can get your drank on, without worrying about spilling your 2012 Sangiovese on a toddler.
Whether you are just visiting Las Vegas, or you live here, The Container Park truly provides something for everyone, and is a great place to meander around, grab some lunch or dinner, people watch, and relax.
